(via livefortravel) This summer, liz!!! (and even now, you are always part of my inspiring environment). OMFG that was the corniest but most true thing I’ve ever said. Please excuse my sappiness. (via featherinink) Awww! And argh! How do I keep missing your stuff?! I get one million comments about cheap Uggs all but hand delivered to me, but this, I miss! Also *hugs* - you are my inspiration-type person too :) <3 And corn and sap are my favourites! |
Ha! I just came across the utter and absolute BEST rec for a story I wrote -
“It hits too many of my kinks for me to know if it’s any good, but I would assume it isn’t.”
I don’t know whether to laugh or cover my face.
Hello, fandoms. I am here to ruin you in the sugariest way possible.
I REGRET NOTHING.
(Wish I could find the appropriate Monkee gif for that… XD)
I know absolutely nothing about the Ponies, but I love how each Monkee has found a perfect playmate!
I’m diabetic. You really shouldn’t do this to me. [thud]
Oops. I may have overdone it on the sugar.
CUTE POISONING: Talk to your friends about it. Know the warning signs. ;)
Ha - this is too perfect :) Micky and Pinkie Pie, Davy and Rarity, Peter and Fluttershy…best match-ups EVER!
You mean… they have names? This is an actual thing?
Um. Yes. It is a new version of the My Little Pony cartoon :) There are six little ponies in it - and the four here are Applejack (the Texan one), Pinkie Pie (the ridiculously energetic one with Micky), Rarity (the fashion designer one with Davy) and Fluttershy (the quiet one with Peter). It’s pretty cute - lots of the little girls I teach like it.
Yep! The ponies got a reboot and became pretty fantastic. (This coming from an old school 80s My Little Pony fan.) After my silliness yesterday, I thought about who would work best with each Monkee for extra giggles.
Peter and Fluttershy are kinda heartbreaking.
PETER: “When I was a kid, I always wanted a pony!”
FLUTTERSHY: “Oh…I’m fond of you too, sweet human. There, there.”
I’m a fan of the new ponies. Excellent design, wonderfully executed stories, great music and they just make me happy. :)
They are really adorable - I only really watched the first series (and by ‘watched’ I mean, thought ‘hey, I should check this out’ and then mainlined the whole thing in a kind of sugar rush), but it was just the sweetest thing ever - all the friendships and the different personalities and the cute artwork - and you could tell that the people behind it just put a lot of effort into it.
Peter and Fluttershy are lovely - but I love all of them. THESE PICTURES MAKE A DISTURBING AMOUNT OF SENSE TO ME.

I signed up for Monkees Fest over on LJ, and today’s my posting date, so here goes nothing! Hope you enjoy the story.
Title: Late Night
Pairing: Mike/Peter (Torksmith)
Rating: PG (PG-13 for language)
Warnings: RPF, as in Real Person Fic involving the real-life band members rather than their TV counterparts. It does contain slash, but it’s very mild, and that content is only in part three.
Author’s notes: It will probably make more sense if you watch the video clip that’s mentioned in the prompt, but it’s not absolutely necessary. Similarly, part three refers to this audio clip. All the locations and dates mentioned throughout are as factual as possible, too, even if the rest of the story is complete fiction!
Prompt: Mike/Peter – any rating – A rpf that explains this quote Peter made on Letterman (prompt by revychumso)
Summary: One late night in 1982, when Mike is watching television, he sees and hears something that reminds him of recording studios, and radio stations, and 1967.
I really enjoyed this - loved the strange push-pull relationship between Mike and Peter, and the image of Davy fending off hordes of girls armed with an emery board is just win :)
Part Ten. Probably the longest, but I couldn’t break it up any more. It needed to stay solid.
Parts of this may make some of you uncomfortable for various reasons. For that, I am sorry, but it WILL get better.
I promised myself I would tie this story up in 12 parts. I have two more left to solve everything, provided I stick to that.
I may need lucky number 13.
Aw - Mike and Peter, sticking up for each other - so sweet :) And I love Peter’s crush (I mean, I AM a slash person, and I’m full-on shipping the two of them, so I’m biased! But I think it comes off as very sweet and understandable even if you’re not ultimately going down a shippy route). And I think that comment about Shug being Peter’s ideal woman, she just happens to be Mike, is really interesting. The drawings at the end are completely adorable too :)
Oops, I rambled. Time for a “read more”.
Oh, I like rambling :) I love hearing people’s opinions on their stories. And you’re totally right - pronouns will drive you up the wall in a genderswap! And hey - I’m shipping Shug/Peter too (that little doodle of Peter kissing Shug - THE FACES just do me in!)

I know the timing isn’t great for this, so I’ll leave it here for folks to find later. This actually helped keep me level today.
Sometimes you need a distraction. :(
Part eight.
Aw, yes - makeover! :) I love it - especially the restaurant with the built in guilt trip (*rimshot*) and all the uncoordinated, crazy excuses for Mike’s absence :) And how Mike is now neck deep in girls, whereas before…um :)
PS and BTW - since you’re a liker of genderswap, I thought maybe you’d be interested in this great story elvira_was_here wrote for monkeesfest. It’s Mike/Micky (just in case you’re not a shipper - but it’s not explicit), and it’s here, if you’d like to read it
http://archiveofourown.org/works/591403
I hope this doesn’t come off as pressuring you - but since you like genderswap, I figured I’d rec it. The story is really good and it deserves way more comments than it has.
